Junín: Criminals blow up Caja Huancayo ATM with gas and place nails to avoid persecution (VIDEO)

Moments of tension were experienced in the center of Huancayo after the explosion of an ATM at the Caja Huancayo during the early hours of Tuesday. A group of criminals tried to steal money from the ATM located between the José Olaya and Tarapacá streets, using gas to generate a controlled detonation.

General Danilo Vera Carbajal, head of the Junín Police Region, reported that the assailants released gas inside the ATM and detonated it using a spark. To facilitate their escape, they placed metal spikes on the track, in order to burst the tires of the patrol cars and prevent pursuit.

Security cameras captured those involved, who arrived aboard a lead vehicle and were wearing white overalls while manipulating implements for the explosion.

According to the Police, one of the suspects would be a Colombian citizen with a history of using explosives and firearms, intervened days ago by the Immigration Police, but released when preventive detention was not issued.

Despite the attack, Caja Huancayo reported that its operations are developing normally in all its agencies and service channels. The PNP continues with investigations and analysis of cameras in the sector to identify and capture those responsible.
