Representatives from the districts of Paccha, Carhuacayan, Marcapomacocha, Oroya and Ondores in the province of Junín met with Congressman Edgar Reymundo to combat cattle rustling. At the meeting, citizens reported various thefts that occurred in the last month.

In the last month, the theft of almost 400 heads of sheep and cattle has been recorded, in response to which Congressman Reymundo said he will present an initiative to modify article 189 of the penal code and make the crimes of cattle theft more severe.

According to Article 189 of the Criminal Code, cattle theft is punishable by a prison sentence of no less than three and no more than eight years. The congressman questioned the penalty for cell phone theft compared to cattle theft.
