Early on Saturday, December 14, the Congress of the Republic approved the creation of 21 universities nationwide, including Jauja and Pangoa in the Junín region. With 50 votes in favor, 15 against and 15 abstentions, the ruling, which aims to improve educational quality and reduce gaps in Peru, was approved.

Representatives from Chincheros (Apurímac), Coracora (Ayacucho), Jauja (Junín), among other regions, arrived at the Congress session. The Junín committee was made up of the mayor in charge of the province of Jauja, Raimundo Flores, and district mayors, who at the end of the vote congratulated the Education, Youth and Sports Commission 2024 – 2025.
According to the bill, the National University of Jauja, based in the Huertas district of the province, will offer courses in agricultural, industrial, civil and agrarian engineering, in addition to zootechnics. On the other hand, the National Intercultural University of Pangoa (UNIP), based in the Pangoa district of the province of Satipo, will have courses in zootechnics, agricultural, environmental, forestry, industrial engineering, psychology, law, administration, pedagogy, agronomy, agroindustry, anthropology and tourism.

Other departments that will have these universities are Huancavelica, Ayacucho, Amazonas, Apurímac, Arequipa, Ica, Junín, Lambayeque, Lima, Moquegua, Puno, San Martín, La Libertad and Ucayali. The Universities are:
- National Amazonian University of Sandia (UNAS), based in the province of Sandia in the department of Puno.
- Bicentennial National Autonomous University of Peru Parinacochas Coracora (UNABIP), based in the Coracora district of the Parinacochas province of the department of Ayacucho.
- National Autonomous University of Camaná, based in the province of Camaná in the department of Arequipa.
- National Autonomous University of Chiclayo, based in the province of Chiclayo in the department of Lambayeque.
- National Autonomous University of Olmos, based in the Olmos district of the Lambayeque province of the Lambayeque department.
- National Autonomous University of Padre Abad de Ucayali, based in the Boquerón district of the Padre Abad province of the department of Ucayali.
- Chiriguana National University of Huancané, based in the province of Huancané in the department of Puno.
- National University of Ayaviri (UNAY), based in the Ayaviri district of the Melgar province of the Puno department.
- National University of Chincheros, based in the province of Chincheros in the department of Apurímac
- National University of Chumbivilcas, based in the district of Santo Tomás in the province of Chumbivilcas in the department of Cusco.
- National University of Jauja, based in the Huertas district of the Jauja province of the Junín department.
