One of the people who has undoubtedly contributed to the growth and economic stability of the country, is the president of the Central Reserve Bank (BCR), Julio Velarde, who has held the position since 2006.
Today, when asked about the possibility of continuing in the management, the head of the BCR replied that if they ask today the answer would be “no.” However, he clarified that at the time, and his next management is raised, he would have to analyze his answer.
“If the new president would designate me, courtesy at least would have to think about it, but it does not depend on me at all. If you ask me now I would say no, if you ask me in two weeks I say maybe, I do not know. It does not depend on me, and I am not with any desire to look for either,” he said.
Who will happen in office to Julio Velarde?
Before a possible departure from the president of the BCR, one of the questions that arises is who could replace Julio Velarde in office and fulfill the same line that has led Peru to have confidence as investors.
Julio Velarde indicated that, in his opinion, the people with the greatest competition to occupy their position are officials who are currently part of the Central Reserve Bank. “If I had to choose someone so that I can immediately do the work it would probably be someone who is already in the Central Bank,” he added.
For now, the head of the BCR has four names in mind, although it only advanced two of them. For a Lardo, the Central Manager of Economic Studies of the BCR, Adrián Armas, and on the other, the general manager of the institution, Paul Castillo.
