The president in charge of the Congress of the Republic, Fernando Rospigliosi, This Tuesday he held a meeting with the head of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP), Julio Velarde Floreswho explained the institutional position of the monetary entity regarding a legislative proposal related to the design of the country’s coins and banknotes.
The meeting revolved around the opinion issued in Bills No. 10738 and 10769, which propose modifying Law No. 32251, a rule that unifies and harmonizes the regulation of symbols of the country, symbols of the State and national emblems. The initiative seeks to specify the use of the coat of arms and the national motto on money in national circulation.
During the meeting, Rospigliosi learned of the technical and symbolic scope of the proposal, which already has a favorable opinion from the Constitution and Regulations Commission, a key step for its eventual debate in the Plenary of Congress.
Senior BCRP officials also participated in the meeting, including Paul Gonzalo Castillo Bardález, general manager; Francisca Lucrecia Pin Mendívil, Communications Manager; and Alberto Franco Mendieta Ludeña, head of Liaison with Congress, who supported the institutional presentation on the possible effects of the initiative.
