“Fortunately we have not had the pressures that other presidents of the Central Bank of the region and the world have had. Hopefully this independence can be maintained in the future. Independence that I see as indispensable if we want to maintain low inflation,” he said.
Similarly, he said there will always be a “temptation” to try to obtain revenues in the short term, but pointed out that the costs of these decisions would be seen in the future.
