In his most recent article on infobae, Borges pointed out that the income of the poorest population fell 11% between 2020 and 2021, while the income of the richest grew 91%.

He referred to a study by economist Omar Zambrano, according to which, in 2021, the income of the richest 20% was 46 times greater than that of the poorest 20%.
“In conclusion, this interesting and rigorous document underlines an irrefutable truth: Venezuela is fixing itself, but only for a few,” Julio Borges stressed.
Likewise, the opposition leader indicated that Venezuela is the most unequal country in Latin America. In this sense, he argued that the growth of inequality is proportional to the growth of the bubble created by the dictatorship.
“To the extent that luxuries are multiplied for a few, opportunities for others stagnate or are reduced,” he pointed out.
He added that, according to the Gini Coefficient – a model used to measure inequality – and the result of the Living Conditions Survey (Encovi) carried out by the country’s universities, by 2021 Venezuela ranked as the most unequal country in Latin America, with an indicator of 56.7.
In his article, Borges lambasted the nouveau riche, comparing them to Russian oligarchs.
