The victim was identified as Julián Andrés Martínez, a 34-year-old paraglider originally from Sopó, Cundinamarca. Martínez lost his life after trying to intervene in the emergency, demonstrating an act of bravery that, unfortunately, cost him his life.
The incident was triggered when, unexpectedly, the hot air balloon began to rise uncontrollably, carried by gusts of wind.
According to the first versions of local media from Agua Azul, Casanare, in an attempt to stabilize the situation, Martínez held on to a rope, but was lifted more than five meters high. Losing control, he fell to the ground, suffering extremely serious injuries.

The paraglider was rushed to a medical center, where doctors made every possible effort to save his life. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he died on the morning of October 14.
