As reported, the Supreme Court of Preparatory Investigation has scheduled the hearings for next Monday, October 14. Alvarado’s will take place starting at 2:30 pm; while Castillo’s, at 4:00 pm

The Puente Tarata case has been the cornerstone of the investigation against the former president and the former Minister of Housing because they are accused of having integrated an alleged criminal network dedicated to taking over public organizations to direct tenders in exchange for bribes.

The former president has been detained since December 7, 2022, after perpetrating a coup d’état in which he announced the closure of Congress and the intervention of the Judiciary, as well as autonomous organizations. Given this, he is investigated for the alleged crimes of rebellion, abuse of authority to the detriment of the State and disturbance of public tranquility to the detriment of society.

In July, the Permanent Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court extended the preventive detention mandate against the former president for 18 months. Likewise, in March 2023 he was sentenced to preventive detention for 36 months, within the framework of the investigations against him for the accumulated cases of Petroperú-Puente Tarata-Ministry of Housing.

For his part, the former Minister of Housing, Geiner Alvarado, is serving 36 months of preventive detention in the Miguel Castro Castro prison.
