The Judiciary, through the Permanent Constitutional Court of Huancayo, suspended the law with political interference that modified the composition of the board of directors of the municipal funds.
As recalled, through the Public Sector Debt Law for the year 2026, it was intended that one of the directors of these entities should be chosen by the vice minister of Mype and Industry of the Ministry of Production.
This situation generated immediate rejection from various entities due to the political participation that would be had. Another point that the norm indicates and that was also questioned is the period that the president of these institutions could be in office.
It should be noted that, after the publication of said rule, the Huancayo Municipal Savings and Credit Fund filed a lawsuit against Congress and the Executive Branch. According to the PJ resolution, if the rule continued to be applied, and was later declared unconstitutional, the impact on the independence of the savings banks would not be able to be fully reversed.
PRESIDENTIAL PARTICIPATION
The change in the board of directors approved by law was signed by President José Jerí, who during his time on the Economy Commission as a congressman and vice president of that group, wanted to include projects that already proposed modifications in the funds.
