In this regard, the Prosecutor’s Office indicates that Benavides would have intervened to irregularly favor the dismissal of members of the National Justice Board.
He is also accused of seeking to remove prosecutors José Domingo Pérez and Rafael Vela from office.
The hearing was held after the Permanent Chamber of the Supreme Court annulled the resolution issued by Judge Juan Carlos Checkley, in which he rejected the request made by the Prosecutor’s Office to prohibit him from leaving the country.
In this regard, the Supreme Court determined that a new hearing be held, presided over by another judge belonging to the Supreme Court of Preparatory Investigation.
