The Permanent Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court annulled the 36-month house arrest order that had been imposed against the former president of the cabinet of ministers Yehude Simon for the case of the Olmos Irrigation Project, linked to the case Odebrecht.
The Supreme Court adopted this measure after declaring the cassation founded by the ex-governor of Lambayeque through his legal defense. The appeal was developed with the purpose of revoking the measure that was imposed by the Appeals Chamber of the National Superior Court in July 2020.
The Supreme Court decided to confirm the order of appearance with restrictions that had been imposed in the first instance to the ex-holder of the PCM in the framework of the preparatory investigation that is being carried out for the alleged crimes of aggravated collusion and money laundering to the detriment of the State.

According to RPP, the Supreme Court determined in its resolution that the defendant’s right to personal liberty had been violated and erroneously analyzed the dangers of escape, as well as of obstruction in relation to the case in question.

Also, he assured that There are no indications that Simon Munaro has carried out maneuvers to escape, since he does not hold a public position that gives him the power to rule out court orders and thus escape the country.
In this regard, it stated that the restrictions imposed by the Criminal Court of First Instance would be sufficient for the respective case.
