Judicial Branch would receive a 4.1% increase in its budget for 2025

The Judicial Branch of the Federation (PJF) requested 85,025.8 million pesos from the Chamber of Deputies to exercise in 2025; In real terms, the amount is 8.5% higher than the approved spending for 2024, although the real variation at next year’s prices is 4.1% higher.

According to the draft Federal Expenditure Budget (PPEF) for the fiscal year 2025, delivered last Friday to the Lower House for approval, the amount referred to includes 5,922.9 million pesos corresponding to the programmable expenditure of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN); 75,142.7 million pesos requested by the Federal Judiciary Council (CJF), and 3,960.2 million pesos required by the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF).

Regarding the budgets approved for the current year, the amounts requested in nominal terms are higher by 2.3, 9 and 9.3%, respectively, but in real terms they are lower by 1.8% and higher by 4.6 and 4.9 percent.

New context

The spending policy of the Judiciary specifies that the projected budget project is “the result of a rigorous and responsible exercise that considered the essential resources to guarantee” that the SCJN, the CJF, the TEPJF Court “and each of the other organs of the federal justice fully comply with the functions conferred in the Constitution.”

As well as the entry into force of the reform of the Judicial Branch, “has generated a new regulatory and operational context that is expected to directly impact the organizational structure, management and operation of both the Judicial Branch of the Federation as a whole. , as in each of the organs that make it up.”

It states that the request for monetary resources for next year took into consideration what is established in the tenth transitional article of the constitutional Decree that “establishes that the labor rights of the workers” of the PJF and the federal entities “will be respected in their entirety and that the expenditure budgets for the corresponding fiscal year will consider the resources necessary for the payment of complementary pensions, medical support and other labor obligations, in the terms established by the applicable laws or general working conditions.”
