In October, the former governor announced that he was acquitted of alleged electoral crimes in the case of the so-called “Broncofirmas”, which were collected for his candidacy for the presidency of the Republic in 2018.
The case stems from the fact that between 2017 and 2018, more than 600 Nuevo León government officials, headed by “El Bronco”, were deployed to collect signatures with which he obtained his registration as a candidate for the presidency before the National Electoral Institute. of the Republic.
For this reason, Jaime Rodríguez was denounced for the alleged commission of the crime of diversion of resources by the then senator and current emecista governor Samuel García.
Jaime Rodríguez was arrested on March 15 in Terán, Nuevo León.
During his stay in prison, the former governor had complications from acute diverticulitis (infection in the digestive sac) that he suffers from.
For this reason, he underwent three surgeries that put his life at risk, according to reports from his relatives and collaborators.
In June, his defense managed to get a control judge to change the precautionary measure due to health risks and for this reason he was sent to house arrest, which he served at his home in the municipality of García, Nuevo León.
