A federal judge in Washington DC warned that there could be probable cause to declare Trump’s government in contempt, having ignored a judicial decision and transfer more than 200 migrants, mostly Venezuelans, a mega jail in El Salvador.
According to information published on the news website AxiosJudge James Boasberg, during the development of a hearing, expressed certain doubts about the allegations wielded by the government lawyer, reiterating that he considered that the Trump administration had acted “bad faith” by expediting flights and preventing judicial pronouncement.
He added that if the US government truly had considered that the actions had been legal and “could survive a lawsuit, I don’t think they had acted in the way they did.”

It is important to note that on March 14, President Trump signed an executive order invoking the law of foreign enemies of 1798norm that is used in times of war to deport hundreds of Venezuelans. The order was directed against a criminal gang called Train of Aragua and claimed that it was carrying out an “invasion” of the United States.
Then, a day later, Judge Boasberg blocked these deportations and verbally ordered the government to return the planes that transported people expelled by virtue of the executive order, precisely before the airplanes arrived in El Salvador.
But, the planes followed their course to El Salvador, a fact that led to an unprecedented legal controversy; Even President Trump suggested bringing the judge to a political trial.
Given these events, the judge warned the legal representative of the Government about the succession of events of the day when the flights took off, making it clear that the Administration decided to accelerate the expulsion of migrants to prevent the courts from interposing.
Judge Boasberg referred to the way these people were expelled, since the relatives of these citizens have indicated that many of the migrants do not have a criminal record and without a previous legal process have been deprived of their freedom without legitimate defense, incurring a clear violation of their human rights.
The migrants found in the Anti -Terrorist Delation Center of El Salvador (CECOT) could suffer “significant damage”, as Judge Boasberg warned.
It is expected that in a new hearing convened for next Tuesday, federal judge Boasberg will make a decision around this case, which evidences an aggressive immigration policy of the Trump government, under the pretext that migrants belong to the transnational criminal gang Train of Aragua, and under the arguments they were invading the country.
