Judge Ruth Benavides, sister of the National Prosecutor, Patricia Benavidestoday declined her appointment as comptroller magistrate of the Office of Control of the Magistracy (OCMA) of the Judiciary.
On February 3, the PJ Executive Council chaired by Judge Javier Arévalo had appointed Benavides and his colleague Marcela Arriola Espino as members of the OCMA as of February 13.
The names of the judges were proposed by the head of the OCMA, Ulises Yaya Zumaeta.
Today, however, the Executive Council accepted the decline to office of Judge Benavides, head of the Callao Superior Court of Justice, who alleged “personal reasons.”
OCMA sources told this newspaper that the incorporation of the magistrate “did not materialize”, so she did not come to exercise functions in that instance that investigates judges for alleged misdemeanors and infractions.
Ruth Benavides Vargas is the older sister of the head of the Public Ministry, and also sister of the other judge Enma Benavideswho was being investigated for allegedly collecting bribes from drug traffickers in exchange for releasing them.
