A judge Mexican died on Sunday after being shot the day before in the violent state zacatecasin the north of the country, authorities reported.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning when Roberto Elias He was aboard his vehicle in the Guadalupe municipality, according to a report from the state security secretariat, which said that the official was treated in serious condition by emergency services.
“The Court of Zacatecas is in mourning, a few minutes ago one of its most competent judges and committed to the high value of justice died,” the head of the state judicial system, Arturo Nahle, wrote on his Twitter account on Sunday.
“The murder of the judge Roberto Elias Martinez it outrages us and adds us to the desperate demand for peace in Zacatecas. We embrace his family,” he added.
Zacatecas has become one of the most violent regions in the Latin American nation, amid disputes between organized crime gangs for control of the territory.
