A US judge on Wednesday rejected the actress’s lawsuit Amber Heard of a new trial in the defamation case that he lost to her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
Heard’s lawyers had asked to overturn the verdict requiring her to pay $10 million to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star over questions about the identity of one of the jurors.
But Judge Penney Azcarate, who presided over the trial in the court of Fairfax, near Washington, dismissed it considering that it was not harmed during the trial.

The 36-year-old actress, known for the films “Justice League” and “Aquaman”, affirms that one of the members of the jury was not the person summoned to act as such.
He had the same name, lived at the same address, and the summons did not mention the date of birth.
In the United States, men often bear the same name as their father, with the suffix “Junior” or “III.”
“The jury was approved (by both parties), he stayed with the jury (all the time), deliberated and reached a verdict,” Judge Azcarate wrote in her ruling.
“The only evidence before this court is that this jury and all others fulfilled their oath, instructions and court orders,” he explained.
Johnny Depp59, sued his ex-wife for defamation, who described herself in a 2018 Washington Post article as “a public figure representing domestic violence,” without naming her ex-husband.

He was asking for $50 million in damages, believing the article destroyed his career and reputation. Amber Heard He countered by asking for double.
After six weeks of debates, the jury of the Fairfax court concluded June 1 that the ex-spouses defamed each other. But they gave more than 10 million dollars to Johnny Depp, against only 2 million to Amber Heard.
The trial, followed live by millions of viewers around the world, caused an explosion of insulting messages towards the actress on social networks.
During the trial, she recounted several cases of violence that she claims to have suffered, including a rape in March 2015 in Australia, where Johnny Depp was filming the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean” saga.
The two actors began a romantic relationship in 2011 and married in 2015. Amber Heard filed for divorce in 2016 claiming to be a victim of gender violence, something that Johnny Depp has always denied.
She dropped the charges when the divorce was finalized in 2017.
