Judge orders trial against allegedly involved in Bavispe massacre

The note noted that on May 19, 2022, agents from the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM), from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), experts from the FGR, and agents from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) , executed a search warrant in the municipality of Ascensión, Chihuahua, where they apprehended the subject who, according to local media, is identified as Rodrigo Ceballos Martínez, alias “El Chamuco”.

Subsequently, following the initial hearing, the judge in the case ordered the trial against Ceballos Martínez for being probably responsible for the aforementioned crime and ratified him in preventive detention at the Federal Center for Social Readaptation Number 1 “Altiplano” in Almoloya de Juárez, State from Mexico.

In addition, it was indicated that three months were set for the complementary investigation.

On November 4, 2019, men armed with assault rifles fired in an ambush in the mountains between Sonora and Chihuahua, against three trucks in which women and children were traveling who left the La Morita community, in the municipality of Bavispe. , towards the community of LeBaron.

According to one of the official versions, in the attack a criminal group called La Línea confused the families with their rivals, leaving three women and six children dead.

The capture of the subject was announced by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador at his conference on May 20, and that day it was noted that the subject was detainee number 31 related to the case.

In November 2021, Adrián LeBarón, father of Rhonita Miller, murdered along with her eight-month-old twins, said, at a commemorative event in Mexico City two years after the massacre, that he continues to seek justice although he does not know if it will come
