At the beginning of the continued preventive detention hearing of the regional governor of Callao, Ciro Castillo RojoJudge Edie Walther Solorzano Huaraz, of the 11th Preparatory Investigation Court of Callao, reported that he received an inappropriate call from the relative of the defendant Jimmy Alexander Whu Cárdenas.
“In order to record, for the sake of the transparency of this process and the preservation of judicial independence, this judge informs us that he has received a call from relatives of one of the defendants such as Jimmy Alexander Whu Cárdenas,” said the Magistrate Edie Solorzano.
“This communication was not requested and is absolutely inappropriate, as it is a contact outside the legally established channels. This court rejects any form of pressure, insinuation or extra-procedural communication. Consequently, and in order to safeguard judicial independence, the facts will be brought to the attention of the competent authorities,” he added.

Judge Edie Olorzano did not give further details except that he would bring the facts to the attention of the authorities, however, judicial sources indicated to La República that the magistrate is receiving threatening calls to release the defendants and not impose preventive detention on them.
The prosecution has requested 36 months in prison for Ciro Castillo Rojo and 12 other officials and suppliers of the Regional Government of Callao. They are 1) Jimmy Alexander Whu Cárdenas, 2) Hiromi Zúñiga Jauregui, 3) Wilmer Meza Natividad, 4) Nancy Oriundo Quilca, 5) Víctor Yancarlo Zambrano Portilla, 6) Jaime Alonso Liza Ríos, 7) Marco Antonio Rojas Gálvez, 8) Roberto Adolfo Rosales Carazas, 9) Cesar Edilberto Arango Huaringa, 10) Luis Antonio Blanco Cabrera, 11) Rafael Moscaisa Gutiérrez and 12) Carmen Haydee Blanco Rivera.
