HOLY SUNDAY. – Judge Cecilia Toribio, of the Santo Domingo Oeste Peace Court, imposed a financial guarantee of one million pesos, periodic presentation and prevention from leaving the country, as coercive measures, on a man accused by the Public Ministry after running over two women on January 4, in Las Palmas de Herrera.
The court issued the coercive measure against Aquilino Ramos, whom the Public Ministry holds responsible for having run over the victims Ana Rosa Caba Marte and Blasina José de Báez.
The Public Ministry had requested the imposition of preventive detention for the accused.
According to the details of the file prepared by prosecutor Sandy Santana, and presented before Judge Cecilia Toribio, the defendant was consuming alcoholic beverages in a grocery store near the area of the incident, from where he later left driving his vehicle, in a reckless manner, and ran over Ana Rosa Caba Marte and Blasina José de Báez, who are receiving medical attention due to the injuries received.
The defendant was also imposed, in another court, coercive measures for violation of articles 66 and 67 of Law 631-16, on the Control and Regulation of Weapons, Ammunition and Related Materials.
