Judge declares inadmissible the preventive detention against Eugenio Hernández

“With the resolution that was issued today, it is shown once again that Eugenio Hernández Flores was illegally deprived of his liberty by various authorities of the previous administration, who tried -by all means- to keep him prisoner, despite knowing how unsustainable of their accusations,” he added.

“Eugenio Hernández Flores will be released today for this cause and we have high hopes that, shortly, the first criminal judge of Ciudad Victoria, Santiago Espinoza Camacho, in compliance with a different amparo sentence, will also determine the freedom of our defendant” , I note.

Eugenio governed Tamaulipas between January 2005 and December 2010.

In October 2017, the Tamaulipas authorities arrested former Governor Eugenio Hernández Flores in Ciudad Victoria for the crimes of embezzlement and money laundering.

At that time, Hernández Flores was admitted to the Ciudad Victoria Sanctions Execution Center.

The investigation against the former president —who governed from 2005 to 2010 led by the PRI— is related to the illegal purchase of land for 1,600 hectares in the Industrial Port of Altamira, which have an estimated value of 1,584 million pesos.
