Los Angeles, November 11 (Notistarz).- Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes returns to the music charts with “Amores prohibited”, a single in which he narrates the life of two lovers separated by the pandemic, in addition to the fact that this premiere reveals a new facet artist music.
“The idea for the song came from an article I read during the pandemic about the difficulty of maintaining secret relationships due to the challenges of meeting the other person. Musically, if you take the beat out of the song, it’s actually a cumbia, a type of Colombian folk music,” the artist said in a statement about how this song came about.
“But when you bring the rest of the production and the loop back in, it takes on a bit of an Andre 3000 and ‘Hey Ya’ sound and vibe. Then I added a Chuck Berry-esque guitar solo to give it a classic rock and roll vibe, and pair the sound with poetic lyrics that speak of that person you meet in the dark when no one else can see them.” artist.
This new creative cycle combines that continued return to the electric guitar with his extraordinary and acclaimed prowess as a songwriter (the artist was recently inducted into the Latinx Songwriters Hall of Fame) turning his attention inward during the pandemic to reexamine his life, his loves, his family, his imagination and his own emotional complexities.
These two years have resulted in a writing and recording period that has filled the artist and his faithful producer and Grammy winner Sebastián Krys with enthusiasm to share this new level of creativity in the form of a complete album to be released in early 2023, in what will be Juanes’ first original work since 2019’s “More Future Than Past.”
The premiere is accompanied by a new music video directed by José Emilio Sagaró with which, once again, Juanes eschews the usual formula of Latin music videos to instill images of more modern visual art, while interspersing it with images of live music. and the intimate and passionate story of this song.
“The concept of video is abstract. The goal was to create a moving work of art. I wanted to give the audience a different view of Juanes. The bed represents the personal and intimate. The eye represents your consciousness. We wanted to show the emotion of forbidden love and, in a conceptual way, represent how your conscience is always awake and watching”, said the director about the clip.
