Diosdado Cabello sang some truths to the Colombian singer Juanes during the broadcast of his television program Con el Mazo Dando, last Wednesday night, in response to the musician’s recent announcement about his return to the Venezuelan capital, on November 4, as part of his Origin tour.
The questioning arose due to the artist’s strong position against the Bolivarian Government, expressed to the press, in 2015, when he stated that he was “outraged by the humanitarian situation in Venezuela”, and in 2019, when he joined the concert called “Venezuela Aid Live”, organized by British billionaire Richard Branson on the Colombian-Venezuelan border.
At that time, the artist expressed that he would participate in the event “so that Venezuelans recover their freedom. Because what is happening is very strong. I believe that the international community has taken too long to react to what is being experienced, ”he said in an interview with the Clarín media outlet.
It is opportune to remember that the Venezuela Aid Live was carried out under a great commercial and media promotion, one day before the plan of the opponent Juan Guaidó to try to enter the country an alleged humanitarian aid from the United States and to raise funds. Later, the relationship between the fund donation platforms that handled the event and the Colombian Air Force became known.
In addition, on that occasion the interpreter of The black shirt also declared: “that he is singing there does not mean that he is in favor of this or that politician. But obviously it is clear that I do not agree with the Maduro government.”
He also assured that he could not enter the country: “they threatened me with death. It was horrible. Simply for thinking differently. A very violent thing”.
Added to the position expressed by the artist was a factor revealed by Cabello: his relationship with former Colombian President Álvaro Uribe Vélez.
“He (Juanes) is Uribe’s nephew, so you know. Uribe was the first godfather he had in his musical career, ”said the deputy during his program.
The relationship with the questioned former Colombian president was evident during the presidency of the latter. For example, after the pre-war crisis that took place between Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela in 2008, when the Colombian army invaded Ecuador to bomb a FARC camp, Juanes organized the “Peace without Borders” concert, held at the Simón International Bridge. Bolívar, border of Venezuela and Colombia. He then made a second installment in 2009 at the Plaza de la Revolución in Havana, Cuba.
When the first of the concerts was held, also under the media eye, it was learned that the artist’s manager made the decision to ask the then president Álvaro Uribe not to attend. An action, apparently well thought out, since the journalist and businessman considered that the presence of Uribe without the assistance of the then presidents Hugo Chávez and Rafael Correa, would have left the feeling of being an event convened only by the Colombian government.
The artist still does not respond. But previously the relationship between the artist and Álvaro Uribe Vélez had been seen in some political events, as well as in statements in which Juanes expressed his support for the then president.
“This period of Uribe has been fundamental for Colombia. He has been one of the best presidents, if not the best we have had”, he said in 2008 when Uribe’s re-election was approved.
This is how Juanes’ visit to Caracas, which serves to promote the album in which the composer from Antioquia includes songs like I have no money, was described by Diosdado Cabello during the broadcast of his television program as immoral: “You are a supremely immoral and you come for the silver. You are even more immoral ”, he sentenced.
“But it is good that it comes, that you see a free people, that does not give up and that triumphed in that invasion that you promoted. They could not and will not be able to with a thousand of those concerts or with a thousand Juanes at the helm,” added the also first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).
The concert of the also interpreter of I fall in love, I ask God, For your love and See you again is scheduled to take place on the Terrace of the Ciudad Tamanaco Shopping Center and, to date, the artist has not yet issued any response to the complaint by Cabello nor to the protests of users on social networks, such as Twitter, who popularly consider him persona non grata.
Meanwhile, concert tickets continue to be sold at a cost of $45, the cheapest, and $400 for the highest value.
