The political leader Juan Requesens was condemned this morning to eight years in prison for the crime of conspiracy, the lawyer reported on his Twitter account Joe Garcia.
“At this time leaving the trial hearing of Juan Requesens, who was sentenced to eight years for the crime of conspiracy. In the next few hours I will meet with his family for further actions. We will continue to report,” said the jurist, who published a message on Wednesday night in which he reiterated that Venezuelan justice has been kidnapped.
“The Public Ministry, Juan Requesens, could not prove your responsibility in any of the seven crimes for which you were accused. The judge has no way to convict you and you must be acquitted, but our justice is kidnapped, ”said García, accompanying his statement with a video of the opponent speaking in the National Assembly, in which he was a deputy.
In that statement, Requesens warned that he would always refuse to surrender: “I refuse to kneel in front of those who today seek to break our morale. Many of our brothers are outside the country, others underground, because they were killed. Because you killed them, Nicholas. Those of us who can still be here are going to continue putting our chest to him. Today I can speak from here. Tomorrow I do not know”.

Thus culminates a process that began in 2018, when the former deputy was arrested by officials of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) accused of being allegedly linked to the attempted assassination of Maduro, which occurred in Caracas on August 4 of that year, in the Bolivar Avenue.
Requesens was facing two charges for frustrated homicide and another five for possession of a firearm, terrorism, treason, conspiracy to commit a crime and public instigation.
In August 2020, after spending two years detained at the Sebin headquarters in El Helicoide, he was placed under house arrest and, since then, he has been kept under this measure of freedom.
