Awards dominated by historical figures.
The Dominican interpreter Juan Luis Guerrawho has more than 40 years of career, won this Thursday the Album of the Year award, the highest recognition of the Latin Grammyfor its production “Radio Güira”an album in which he explores the merengue mambo for the first time.
The production, released at the end of 2023, also received the gramophone in the Best Merengue/Bachata Album category and the single “Mambo 23” in Record of the Year and Best Tropical Song.
For his part, the Uruguayan Jorge Drexler He added to his long list of awards the award for Song of the Year, for his song “Derrumbe.”
The Puerto Rican Luis Fonsi won recognition for Best Pop Vocal Album for “El Viaje” and the star Karol G Best Urban Music Album for “Mañana Sera Bonito (Bichota Season)”.
Carlos Vives He was honored as Person of the Year, in an edition that marked the 25th anniversary of the Latin Recording Academy and was held in Miami.
The Colombian artist, who for more than three decades has been part of the entertainment industry, was recognized for internationalizing the native rhythms of his country.
