Juan Luis Guerra concerts in Ecuador canceled

The concerts that the Dominican singer-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra had planned to offer in Ecuador were cancelled, as announced by the production company in charge of organizing the two performances.

The production company FTC Live reported in a statement that Guerra’s concerts, scheduled for November 24 in Guayaquil and November 26 in Quito, “will not take place on the scheduled dates” and offered to return the ticket money by not determining whether the Dominican will perform on other different dates.

“The events of recent days in the country” have “indirectly affected social instability, which is reflected in the sale of these events,” the company said.

Without mentioning it directly, the company made reference to the state of emergency decreed by the Government in the city of Guayaquil (southwest) since last Sunday, after an explosion -which the Minister of the Interior, Patricio Carrillo, refers to as « terrorist attack” – which caused five deaths and seventeen wounded, two of them in critical condition.

Between May and June of this year, the coastal provinces of Esmeraldas, Manabí and Guayas, whose capital is Guayaquil, were also under a state of emergency due to the rise in violence by organized crime, linked by the authorities to drug trafficking that uses ports of Ecuador to send drugs to Europe and North America.
