Juan Lorenzo Holmann turns 56, his mother hopes to see him released

Political prisoner Juan Lorenzo Holmann turns 56 this July 20. This 2022 he will not be able to see his family either because he is a prisoner in the Directorate of Judicial Assistance (DAJ), known as “El Nuevo Chipote”.

Holmann remains in “deplorable” conditions in prison. He has 333 days of incarceration. The general manager of La Prensa was sentenced to nine years in prison for the alleged crime of money laundering.

Ana Chamorro, Holmann’s mother, expressed her congratulations through an audio published by the press and stressed that he does not lose hope of seeing him released. «Dear, Juan Lorenzo. This day of your birthday I always love you very much and I remember you in all your sacrifices what you are doing and I offer it to God for the good of your country and that example you are giving of the strength that the Lord gives you is incredibly of faith and everything The world admires you and is praying for you,” he stressed.

Chamorro expressed his hope to see him released, “I love you very much and even more now in this trial that the Lord is sending you and the suffering that you have, I thank you too. In the name of the Lord and the Virgin, a kiss that the Lord and the Virgin will soon give us that pleasure of giving it to you so as not to separate us again, I love you very much,” the mother of the general manager of La Prensa said in the audio.

Holmann was found guilty during a three-day trial and was sentenced to nine years in prison plus a multimillion-dollar fine. During his trial, the Prosecutor’s Office presented as witnesses the police officers who carried out the inspection and search of an empty building, where the old facilities of the Violeta Barrios de Chamorro Foundation (FVBCH) were located.

During the impeachment trial, Holmann claimed innocence and blamed the regime’s retaliation for being a Chamorro. At that time he declared that his family has values ​​and that he was proud of it. The businessman became the fourth member of the Chamorro family to be convicted by the Nicaraguan justice system. Days before, he had issued a sentence against the brothers Cristiana and Pedro Joaquín Chamorro Barrios, also directors of La Prensa; and against presidential candidate Juan Sebastián.
