Juan Jose Santivañez He assumed the Interior portfolio owing almost half a million soles to the State, revealed the Canal N investigative unit. According to the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat), only in his personal capacity, the minister registers more than 116 thousand soles of coercive debt for not paying taxes since June 2022, date on which the coercive collection began.
In addition, other companies linked to it have similar unpaid debts. The sum of this group amounts to more than 330 thousand soles, of which 311 thousand soles correspond to tax debt and 22 thousand soles to payments not delivered to Essalud.
When breaking down the aforementioned companies, the journalistic report revealed that Santiváñez & Molina Abogados Consultores SAC, founded in 2017 by Santiváñez, has 160 thousand soles in coercive debts with Sunat and Essalud. In June 2021, the entity began a coercive collection process, however, the payments have not been made.
Added to this is SM Consultores Legales SAC, a company that owes the State around 90 thousand soles since 2023. Of that amount, more than 79 thousand soles correspond to unpaid taxes and 10 thousand soles to debts with Social Security. The firm was founded in 2021 by the current Minister of the Interiorwho owns 917 shares in this company.
Meanwhile, Prodemocracia Internacional Management & Consulting SAC, a company that ceased its services, has a debt of 45,400 soles with the State for 15 years. This firm was established in 2003 and Santiváñez served as general manager until 2022, when he resigned from the position.
The debts do not end there. Juan José Santiváñez Antúnez Abogados & Consultores SAC, another of the companies related to the head of the Interior, has an unpaid tax debt of 8,750 soles, corresponding to the year 2017.
Finally, Santiváñez Antúnez Abogados Asociados SAC has outstanding debts of 29 thousand soles to Essalud and Sunat, from 2012 and 2013. To date, coercive collection is still in effect.
Canal N consulted the highest authority in the interior about these debts, however, did not receive a response.
