Juan Guaidó, president of the National Assembly (AN) in 2015 and recognized as president in charge of a group of countries, participated this Monday, December 12, in a digital and simultaneous forum between Miami and Caracas, called “Democracy in Venezuela solution to the crisis energy”, where he affirmed that “only in democracy, Venezuela will be a reliable energy alternative, only in democracy is sustainability possible”.

Academics, representatives of the private sector and government officials participated in this forum to explore perspectives on energy solutions and the recovery of the oil industry in the country.

Guaidó recalled online that Venezuela exported almost three million barrels of oil daily; but he assures that negligence and corruption destroyed PDVSA, a situation that, in his opinion, is impossible to recover.

In the same way, he explained that “democracy is what can support and offer sustainability to the energy industry in the hemisphere and the world. For us, development, support, the exercise of democratic resistance, the exercise of the majority, diplomatic and legal recognition continue to be central.

In his speech, Juan Guaido He also stressed that energy is development and progress and is not a business. “It’s not a business. For Venezuelans it is development, it is attention, it is peace for the planet and a great opportunity for stability for the investments that can be generated in the future in Venezuela,” he said.

He added that the commitment of Venezuelans is to fight to recover democracy and put the energy potential that exists in Venezuela at the service of the country, the hemisphere and the world, so that it is a reliable and sustainable energy alternative.

He also argued that it is necessary to “protect Citgo and the assets because they are the future of Venezuela” so that it never again depends for energy on authoritarian regimes.

This forum was organized by the Kimberly Green Center for Latin America and the Caribbean, Consumer Energy Alliance, and the National Hispanic Energy Council. It was attended by United States Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart and Senator Annette Taddeo.

Participating in the group of panelists were Carlos Jordá representing Citgo, Víctor Vásquez from VEEnergy, Horacio Medina and Julián Cárdenas from PDVSA Ad Hoc, Julio Fuentes, executive director of the Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and analyst George Eickoff.
