John Daniel Oviedocurrent director of the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane), is one of the most approved officials in President Iván Duque’s portfolio.

Oviedo significantly transformed data collection in the country and ensured that during the pandemic there was a detailed record of what was happening in the territory. In addition, he included an agenda for the population of the LGTBIQ community and began to take into account in the measurements what the perceptions of citizens were and how they were feeling.
In the last few weeks, the expectation of who would occupy his position during the government of Gustavo Petro. The leftist leader had confirmed that he had made a proposal to Oviedo to continue and that he was awaiting his decision.
