This Thursday, the High Commissioner for Peace, Juan Camilo Restrepo, took office as mayor in charge of Medellin, after the suspension of Daniel Quintero, by the Attorney General, while he is being investigated for his alleged participation in politics.
The act was held before Notary Public 11 of Medellín, Beatriz Elena Castaño Alzate, in the El Poblado sectorsouth of the capital of Antioquia.

Through a trill, Restrepo made the act public and in it he thanked President Iván Duque for the appointment. “My job will be to accept this designation with all responsibility and work for my beloved city. I took office in a notary public and immediately put myself at the service of citizens with a message of union”, expressed the official on his Twitter profile.
Faced with the inauguration, Mayor Quintero also spoke, through Twitter, and referred to the act as the consolidation of a coup in the city, In addition, he described the new manager as “the Guaidó Paisa”.

“15 days after the elections, ‘el Guaido Paisa’ has taken office. As of today, the GEA has regained power from EPM and the Mayor’s Office. The same power that the citizens had taken from them at the polls. The Coup has been consolidated” , tweeted Daniel Quintero.
But this is not the first time that Quintero has rejected the president’s decision. Yesterday at the demonstration that he called in the square of La Alpujarra, Quintero referred to Juan Camilo Restrepo as a “puppet mayor” and also a “spoiled GEA”a business conglomerate with which Quintero has had differences on issues such as the corporate governance of EPM and the Hidroituango project.
The inauguration of the new mayor in charge also takes place after Today in the morning hours the Independent Movement, by which Mayor Quintero was elected to his position, filed a guardianship to stop the suspension of the local president, but also demanding the repeal of the decree that empowered Juan Camilo Restrepo as manager.
