Juan Burgospresident of the Congressional Oversight Commission, denounced through his social networks that the Popular Action bench would be seeking to manage a ‘tailor-made’ Investigative Commission to look into the case of the alleged prostitution network that would have operated within the Congress of the Republic.
By Resolution of the Mayor’s Office, Alberto Vásquez Romero, former boss of the worker Isabel Cajo, was removed and Susana Rivera Zanca was replaced -main advisor to Congressman Elvis Vergara- in the trusted position of head of the Asset Management Area of the Department of Supply.

Juan Burgos requests an extraordinary plenary session to investigate alleged prostitution network
Because there will not be a Plenary Session until March, the president of the Oversight Commission, Juan Burgos, demanded that the president of Congress, Eduardo Salhuana, call an extraordinary session so that he can grant investigative powers to the commission he presides, in the framework of the alleged prostitution network that would have operated in Parliament.
“In the next session of the commission, we will vote on a motion to request powers as an investigative commission. The decision will be made by the plenary session, but I call on the president of Congress to call an extraordinary plenary session,” he said.
The legislator highlighted the importance of having tools such as access to banking, tax and confidential communications information, as well as the power to issue mandatory subpoenas. According to him, these measures are essential to clarify the accusations and guarantee the search for the truth.

Carlos Pais, friend of Richard Acuña, resigns
Absalón Vásquez becomes the second congressional official to leave a leadership position. Days ago, the president of the Board of Directors, Eduardo Salhuana, announced the resignation of Carlos Pais, director of Administration of the Parliament.
The Board of Directors plans to define next Monday who will assume the position left by Pais. The former official, close to former congressman Richard Acuña, son of the leader of Alianza Para el Progreso (APP), César Acuña, came to office during the presidency of Alejandro Soto, replacing former parliamentarian Marisol Espinoza.
Pais has faced questions, including his summons to the Oversight Commission in the case of an alleged prostitution ring. Asked about the appointment of Jorge Torres Saravia, former head of the Legal and Constitutional Office of Congress, Pais stated that he did not know who recommended him for the position.
