Juan Mauro Barranzuela Quiroga sworn like new Minister of Transport and Communications in replacement of Nicholas Bustamante. The President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, took the oath of the new holder of this portfolio at the Government Palace.
Last March, Bustamente was sworn in to replace Juan Silva, who, according to the hypothesis of the Prosecutor’s Office, was part of a criminal organization within the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).
Nicolás Bustamente was not a novelty in the sector, because before assuming its leadership he served as general secretary of the MTC, one of the most important positions. For this reason, and the closeness that he would have with Silva, his appointment was questioned.

The last public position held by the new minister Juan Barranzuela Quiroga was that of General Manager of the Regional Government of Tumbes.
Likewise, after his swearing in, he made his first statements to the press, from outside the Government Palace, and promised to work for the benefit of the country.

Barranzuela also pointed out that a “refreshment” in various portfolios within the Executive. “There is a terrible situation that has been taking place and I think it is time to start looking at the country in a different way.”, he added.
