Jozef Síkela will visit Mexico to strengthen the EU-Mexico association, within the framework of Global Gateway

He European Commissioner for Industry and Energy, Jozef Síkelawill make an official visit to Mexico to strengthen economic and political cooperation between both regions, in the context of the Global Gateway strategy, the European Union initiative that seeks to promote sustainable investments with strategic partners around the world, Plan Mexico and the future modernized Global Agreement between the European Union and Mexico.

Síkela will participate in the inauguration of the VI European Union–Mexico Forumwhich will be held on October 16 and 17 under the title “Common opportunities and challenges: strengthening our economic and political partnership through inclusion and sustainability.”

The forum, organized by the European Union and the Euroamerica Foundationwill bring together policymakers, entrepreneurs, investors and opinion leaders to analyze common challenges and opportunities for collaboration in renewable energy, sustainable mobility – including rail transport –, circular economy, health and green finance.

The visit of the European commissioner reinforces Brussels’ commitment to Mexico as a priority partner in Latin America. Through Global Gatewaythe EU seeks to promote infrastructure, clean energy and digitalization projects that contribute to sustainable development and the strengthening of value chains.

During his stay, Síkela will hold meetings with Mexican government authorities and representatives of the private sector to explore new areas of investment and technological cooperation, within the framework of the modernization of the EU-Mexico Global Agreement, which is in the conclusion phase.
