The Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) announced the winners of the “George Arzeno Brugal” Industrial Journalism Award to the journalists Martín Polanco, from the newspaper elCaribe, and Patria Reyes, from Listín Diario, in the category of Journalism.
Meanwhile, Felivia Mejía, from Forbes Magazine, is the winner in the Research category and Pedro Caba won the Economic Journalism Lifetime Achievement Award.
Martin Polanco is a graduate of Social Communication, with a mention in Journalism, from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and a diploma in Economic Journalism from the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic and the Catholic University of Santo Domingo (UCSD).
He has more than ten years of activity, with a focus on the economic and financial area, and experience in international coverage, in countries such as Germany, China, Colombia, Spain, Taiwan, France, Cuba, Panama and the United States.
He began his career as a popular correspondent for Radio Santa María, in La Vega, and later in the Dominican Union of Catholic Broadcasters (Udeca), and in the H-102, San Francisco de Macorís, Duarte province.
“The AIRD is aware of the passion for informing, for investigating, for exposing the most diverse problems and proposals of the productive sectors that those who practice journalism in the country have.
Acknowledging that passion is part of the reasons for holding this Award for the thirteenth year in a row,” said Circe Almánzar, executive vice president of the AIRD, in a press release.
He indicated that economic journalism, and especially that which focuses on the industrial development of the nation, has played an important role in maintaining the flow of information that society requires in the midst of the recovery process that the Dominican economy has been undergoing.
