MIAMI, United States. – Popular Cuban journalist Julita Osendi denounced through his Facebook account, having been the victim of an assault in the Havana Malecon this Monday, after leaving the Spanish Embassy.
According to Osendi, the criminal who attacked her was a well-dressed young man who was apparently watching the waves of the sea. The thief managed to take her mobile phone, which contained valuable material for her work, as well as family photos and contacts of athletes and coaches.
“I am greeting you by pure chance because right now it is so that I was being treated in a hospital emergency room. I will be brief: enjoying fiveoooooooo sad minutes on the Malecón with Sady, after leaving the Spanish Embassy, I was terrifyingly [sic] assaulted by a boy whom we saw very well since he was sitting on the Malecón, apparently watching the breaking waves,” the journalist said.
According to Osendi, her friend “Sady ran and called for help and the three men across the street put their hands in the ‘I didn’t go’ position and the fast runner, like an Olympic hectometre champion, disappeared.”
“I immediately called the PNR – the journalist continues -, they attended me correctly and told me that ‘the [Policía] technique’. That was around 9:30 am Now around 11:00 and after repeating the call, I left the place. Delusional I thought that having seen his peculiar clothing, if the police acted quickly, perhapssssssss (…) they would have been able to recover my cell phone ”.
Finally, Osendi concluded that “you cannot go out, except an elderly woman; There is not a single police officer who can help in a situation like this (two passed by on electric motorcycles who had not received any notice from the Headquarters) and third: No one lives here!”
In her publication, the journalist also shared some photographs taken by the friend who accompanied her, which show the dirt and neglect in the Malecón area.
“Don’t miss the photos Sady took of the place of dispossession from across the street and the filthy dumps and landslides that swarm the much-loved Malecón area,” Osendi wrote.
