Josnars Baduel turns an isolated month in the rodeo: his health deteriorates and the state knows

Andreina Baduel states that despite the “serious sequelae of torture” his brother has suffered, he does not receive specialized or timely medical attention

The political prisoner Josnars Baduel celebrates a month in isolation in the El Rodeo I prison, located in the Miranda state. His sister, Andreina Baduel, denounces that it is not an isolated event, but a “pattern of punishment that is repeated cruelly” and seeks to “break” the detainees and their relatives.

In his Account in xthe activist recalls that the first isolation to which her brother was subjected began on January 26 and extended until May 17. For 111 consecutive days he was incommunicado.

The second isolation began on August 2. «Today he is already a month without visits, without parcel and without news of him. Each of these prolonged insulation ratifies what we have been denouncing: Rodeo I is not a detention center, it is a torture center, ”he says.

Baduel says that despite the “serious sequelae of torture” his brother has suffered, he does not receive specialized or timely medical attention. “His health deteriorates and the state knows,” he says.

He condemns the insulation policy because it represents a torture for the whole family that already “lives in uncertainty and pain” with a loved one behind bars.

«Those who order these punishments believe that they will break us, but they are wrong: each abuse confirms that we are right. Therefore, today I reiterate with all firmness: I demand immediate freedom for Josnars Baduel and for all the political prisoners of Venezuela, ”he says.

Josnars Baduel was arrested in 2020 and is accused of participating in Operation Gideon. He was charged with the crimes of “betrayal of the homeland”, “terrorism”, “conspiracy”, “arms trafficking”, “association to commit crimes” and in 2024 he was sentenced to 30 years in jail.
