Santo Domingo.– José Valenzuela, former mayor of the Las Matas de Farfán municipality and former Dominican consul in Haitidied last Monday, while receiving medical care outside the country, after facing cancer.
The information was confirmed by the Valenzuela Cedano familywho also released details about his public careerpolitics and business, as well as the agenda of his funeral honors.
Valenzuela was elected mayor of Las Matas de Farfán between 2016 and 2020, elected by the Party Christian Social Reformist (PRSC).
In 2020 he joined the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM)through movement Safe Routesupporting the presidential candidacy of Luis Abinader.
That same year he was appointed Dominican Consul in Belladère (Veladero), Haitia border area considered highly strategically sensitive. Later, in 2022, it was appointed advisor to the Executive Branch by presidential decree.
In the business field, it began its commercial activity in the 1970s and later consolidated itself in the transportation sector.
In 1989 he pioneered the express service between Las Matas de Farfán and Santo Domingoas well as a founding member of the Las Matas de Farfán Bus Association (ASODUVE). In the 2000s he created the company Valenzuela Exportscontributing to the economic dynamism of their community.
