Hoy Paraguay

The president of the Paraguayan Chamber of the Construction Industry (Capaco), Daniel Díaz de Vivar, lamented that the ministries of Public Works and Finance spend throwing the ball regarding the payment of the debt with that sector. He questioned that while the Government ignores the problem, the construction companies are pressured by the banks to pay the interest on the credits assumed.

In an interview with radio 650 AM, the president of Capaco, Daniel Díaz de Vivar, stated that your sector is dragging on its shoulders a debt that is not really its own, but rather that of the Paraguayan State that does not pay the contractors.

indicated that Credits for 240 million dollars were approved for the State to settle its debts, but only 60 million were allocated to the builders to date. “We don’t know what’s going on because of that you don’t pay,” she added.

He said he did not know how the debts are not being paid despite the fact that the credit for that purpose was approved. For this situation is that They will meet again with the Ministry of Finance to internalize the situation. “The debts with the banks are coming due but it cannot be paid because we do not have the release of the funds to pay,” she said.

“One no longer understands, because we spoke with the Treasury and they tell you that the MOPC does not send the list, we spoke with the people of the MOPC and they say that the list has already been passed to the Treasury. They throw the ball and what happens is very seriousthat two State institutions do not agree, a lot of money is at stake ”, he criticized.

The builders’ spokesman commented that While the State does not settle its debts, the banks are already beginning to require construction companies to pay their accounts assumed to carry out public works.

“If the same debt is not being paid, when will the interest be paid? The situation is very serious and nobody pays attention to us. It is a terrible ineffectiveness of the Paraguayan State. Private companies are paying interest on state debts. It is not only the construction sector that is affected by this, what is happening is serious and nobody pays attention to us”, he also said.

He also said that about a month ago they met with the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) and the Superintendence of Banks to explain the situation of the sector and to prevent them from being recategorized (the recategorization will imply that they are risk clients and will receive credits at differentiated rates) as was done with the producer union due to the drought. However, as he stated, They have not yet received responses to this request made to the banking system.
