“I never had a relationship with Baker Hughes”
Parallel to López Beltrán’s statement, his wife also published a four-page document in which he defends himself and denies having committed any irregularity.
“In recent weeks my family has been seriously exposed by endless fake news published in different media, defaming and slandering us, disturbing our private lives, something that is unacceptable,” said Adams.
Within the document, he gives his version of the house that has generated controversy.
According to Adams, she rented the house for a year, when López Beltrán was applying for his visa to work and live in the United States. In this process, she states that she used a real estate agent and that “the parties (landlord and tenant) are rarely known.”
“Everything was done under US formality, rules and requirements: contract, security deposit, monthly rent (like any other),” he said. “Although in Mexico I worked in the energy sector, I never had any relationship with Baker Hughes or any of its executives,” he added, insisting that they did not fall into a conflict of interest.
As a backup, he posts screenshots of the conversations he claims to have had with the real estate agent.
According to Adams, after renting that house, he bought a mortgaged house and owns a car that he continues to pay off.
“These lies have had the desire and purpose of harming third parties. We are waiting for the facts to be investigated and for all the evidence to be analyzed. The presumption of innocence must always be a maxim and they need to be able to rectify erroneous information”, he added.
“Let the truth be told, because assumptions are not facts, and you have to know how to differentiate between opinion and information. I hope everyone who created this unfortunate FAKE NEWS finds peace in their hearts.”
