José Néstor Pékerman will be presenting in the next few hours as the new coach of Venezuela. The 72-year-old Argentine returns to the field after his departure from the Colombian National Team in 2018 and to replace José Peseiro on the Venezuelan bench.
“On behalf of the Venezuelan Soccer Federation, receive the warmest welcome. It is an honor for me to present José Néstor Pékerman Krimen as the new technical director of the Venezuelan National Team“, published the president of the Federation Jorge Giménez.
Pékerman will be accompanied by Fernando Batista, who until now was the coordinator of the Argentine Youth Teams. The two Argentines have known each other for years and, therefore, they are going to work together to make Venezuela a stronger country for the next few years. For the coach, Vinotinto will be his third team to lead after Argentina and Colombia.
Venezuela occupies the last place of the South American Qualifiers with 7 points with a distance of 10 points on the playoff square. Pékerman will debut in January against Bolivia and, in February, against Uruguay.
