José M. Murià: Telmex, CFE and also Siapa

Adjustments in 44% of the first circle of the President

A few weeks ago the services of the three institutions suffered a mishap. Siapa (Intermunicipal Drinking Water Service) of the Guadalajara metropolitan area had to deal with a water leak in the corner of your house. The water spilled at dusk and by dawn there were no traces of the incident. I want to emphasize that this Siapa is an official company…

A few hours before, the storm devastated who knows what facilities and that night we lost electricity, but in the morning it had already been reinstalled and everything went back to normal. I want to emphasize that the CFE is also an official company.

It also turns out that, in order to encourage recollection and reflection even more, that same afternoon the two telephone lines in my home, where I have my office and library, stopped working. Two weeks later they still didn’t work. Do I need to remember that Telmex is a private company usurping functions that should be public? Its condition makes it an institution whose priority is to earn money and not to provide a service… its voracity gives rise to a good business, instead of its original function being that of assisting citizens.

It is not the first time that a line has been without service for a long time, but now they took care, because both went off the air. You have to admit that you are getting over it.

This leads me to remember that there should be a marked difference between attention to citizenship and economic satisfaction of employers. That is to say, there are tasks that correspond to private companies and it is assumed that profits should be derived from them. But there are others that constitute a public service and this is their main function.

The efficiency of some is measured by balance sheets and legitimate profits, while that of the others is measured by user satisfaction. Despite the regrets, the telephone continues to be a necessary instrument for home life and professional performance, so the company’s obligation is to offer the best possible service.

This also comes into play in the unleashed confrontation of those who intend to leave the management of electrical energy in the hands of the private sector – and, worse still, foreigners – who, evidently, seek to thrive and not serve.

The terrible experience of such a situation is offered to us by Spain itself, headquarters of the voracious corporations that have come to control peninsular electricity and have also put their noses and claws into our country, in an operation similar to the old exchange of mirrors for pieces of gold and silver…

The damage they have done to the economy and the citizens of Spain is already immeasurable, however there are so-called Mexicans who embrace the idea that they do the same here.

That precept of mixed economy that prevailed in the past was deviated, giving rise to companies that should be private passing into the hands of the government, but for this reason we should not fall into the game that companies that should be controlled by the government fall into the hands of the government. private.
