The great attention is launched that in the recent festivities organized by the tequilas to honor themselves, they have been more unable to have broken the world record by gathering around three and a half thousands of different bottles of the famous and Mexican drink and the enormous importance of the industry has repeated each other. This happened in a magnificent building that acts as its “main temple.”

However, the absence of books and magazines is to attract attention. Gather what has been published about the happy drink, its production, its characteristics and, why not?, Your problems, it is something that has not occurred to those who are turning the tequila, more than anything, in a reason for worship.

Recently, the data that did not surprise anyone: Jalisco’s businesses turn out to be mostly small: 10 or 15 employees … Those who transcend that limit, with very few exceptions, suffer from the presence of outsiders and, increasingly, of foreigners.

Such is the case of the tequila industry that has grown greatly in the last 30 years, to the extent that it has also forested.

They helped this takeoff, among other things, the good hands in which the Tequila Regulatory Council was for many years; It is not the case of the current ones, who enjoy in their curriculum having destroyed in record time one of the most important shoes in America.

To speak in detail of the rapports of many tequilas, a much larger space is required than to do it with the probos tequileos, which there are also. It has even been the case that in order to conserve its production according to traditional canons, one of the highest quality tequilas has been forced to remove the word “tequila” of its labels … curiously almost no one has noticed!

A symptom of the quality of most of such industrialists is that, in the activities that are organized to honor themselves, reference is never made to their bibliography, even if it is very scarce. But it is the case that there is a magazine on the subject that appears regularly, and in recent dates two books on the tequila on account of editorials of great national and international prestige have appeared: one, shorter, is from Miguel A. Porrúa and the other, of greater size, was edited or more than by the College of Mexico, one of the most prestigious academic institutions in America and throughout the world of Spanish speaking.

It is curious, but the current leaders of the Tequila Regulatory Council and the National Chamber of that industry do not seem to be aware and, of course, when they were held with so much hype and dish the “Tequila Day”, on July 24 of the month of July, or the noses appeared such books.

We must assume that the current capos of the industry, of the Chamber and of the once efficient regulatory advice, or by chance are seen in one of the many libraries in the city, quantimenous for the elderly that Mexico City enjoys, where such books are on sale. Let us no longer say that they have occurred to them to organize a presentation of these to feed the adequate knowledge of the history of that industry and thus avoid saying so many nonsense.

Ignorance, even many tequileros, from the history of tequila gives rise to even knowing that this word comes from TL): stone, from quili (tl): herbs, and lan: place.

What some say what “place where you work” is a real idiocy. The place names refer to the natural characteristics of the places … not to the qualities or defects of its inhabitants.
