José Luis Lecaros, former president of the Judiciary, died

Murió José Luis Lecaros, expresidente de la Corte Suprema de Justicia

José Luis Lecaros Cornejo, former president of the Judiciarydied this Sunday at the age of 73. He was a Peruvian lawyer and magistrate, former president of the Supreme Court and Judicial Branch in the period 2019 – 2020.

The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights announced the news on its social networks this morning.

“From the MINJUSDH we regret the sensitive death of the lawyer and magistrate José Luis Lecaros Cornejo, former president of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Judicial Branch of Peru. With deep regret we express our condolences to his family and friends,” the institution expressed through your X account.

The magistrate was born in Arequipa and studied at the Catholic University of Santa María in that city. In addition, he completed a master’s degree in Criminal Law from the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega University. He was also an investigating judge in the corruption and human rights investigations against Alberto Fujimori.
