Defense Minister, Joseph Louis Gavidiapresented his letter of irrevocable resignation this Wednesday, August 17, before the President of the Republic, peter castle.
Through social networks, Gavidia spread the letter that he sent to the head of state where he thanks the opportunity to have worked with the Navy, the Peruvian Air Force and the Army.
Likewise, he thanks the head of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, the general commanders and the personnel of the Defense sector for their support and teamwork.
“Thank you President Pedro Castillo for giving me such a high honor. I will continue serving the country from the trench that touches me”he stated.
José Luis Gavidia assumed the Defense sector on February 1, after the departure of his predecessor, Juan Carrasco Millones, as part of the then new Cabinet headed by Congressman Héctor Valer. Then, on February 8, he was ratified in office with Aníbal Torres as prime minister.

During his tenure as Minister of Defense, the Public Ministry initiated an investigation against José Luis Gavidia for the alleged crime of embezzlement for having used an official flight to travel to the provinces with his three daughters.
As reported by “Punto final”, the official had traveled on a Navy plane with his daughters aged 11, 15 and 31 to Huánuco for an official activity between March 13 and 15 of this year.
