The Oversight Commission unanimously approved inviting the Minister of the Interior, Vicente Tiburcio, to testify about the clandestine meetings held by President José Jerí with the Chinese businessman Zhihua Yang in a chifa in San Borja.
Tiburcio has admitted, in line with the version of the head of state, that he accompanied Jerí at this unregistered dinner at the president’s activities on December 26.
In the extraordinary and blended session, this same working group also approved that the Minister of Energy and Mines, Luis Enrique Bravo, also attend.
The head of Minem must respond to the situation of the Pachachaca 2 hydroelectric plant project that was awarded to the company Hidroeléctrica América SAC, coincidentally owned by the businessman who shared chifa with the president.
Although the attendance of both ministers was approved, only in the coming days will the date and time in which they must appear at the commission be defined.
It was Jerí himself in one of his several explanations who revealed that Minister Tiburco accompanied him to the chifa. “After talking and coordinating, like every day, and going around Lima with Minister Tiburcio and my escort, I invited them to dinner,” said the president.
