Although he acknowledged his mistake due to the meetings he had outside the Government Palace, he described the journalistic reports that revealed these meetings with the questioned Chinese businessmen Zhihua Yang and Ji Wu as a way to destabilize the Presidency and alter the electoral process.
“There is a purpose to distort common acts such as going to a chifa or going shopping at a store with irregular events,” said the president.
Three different versions
When questioned about the three versions that Jerí has been giving about the first clandestine meeting that came to light, the president assured that everything would be about the same event and that the three versions are related.

When asked about the meeting on January 6 at a Chinese businessman’s store located in Downtown Lima, Jerí stated: “It is normal to go to a chifa, it is normal to go to a store. I did not know at that time that the store was closed.” He assured that he bought candies and Chinese paintings that he showed during the interview.
“I did not lie to the country, rather, the situation is being taken advantage of precisely to attack the presidential investiture beyond my mistake that I have already recognized and also affect the electoral process, which is my duty to ensure its budget, transparency and impartiality,” he said.

Jeri He also assured that he no longer has communication with Zhihua Yang because he pointed out that “directly or indirectly” he has tried to harm the presidential investiture. In addition, he denied that the businessman had requested anything from him.
