The President of the Republic, José Jeríspoke out against the mobilizations that have been taking place in the streets of Lima against the Government and Congress.
The president reaffirmed the citizen’s right to free expression, but firmly condemned the acts of violence recorded during the day.
Through his official account on X, Jerí pointed out that protest “is a right in the face of the lack of attention from the State for many years.” However, he emphasized that he will not allow “a small group” to resort to violence as a form of demonstration.
“Citizen expression in the streets is a right in the face of the lack of attention from the state for many years; however, we will not allow a small group to try to use violence as a way,” he said.
The president specified that the security cameras of the Municipality of Lima and other public institutions remain permanently transmitted to monitor the development of the protests and prevent incidents.
