José Jerí on Law against insecurity: "On Saturday we will have it published"

In an attempt to stop the threat of a total shutdown in Limethe president of the Republic, José Jerí, moved this morning to the district of San Juan de Lurigancho to start a crucial dialogue table with the main representatives of public transportation in Lima.

The meeting, which has generated great expectations among citizens, seeks to establish agreements that avoid the cessation of operations announced for this Thursday, January 15.

The head of state dedicated a few minutes of the meeting to give a few words to the transporters and highlight the work that the Executive has been doing in the face of the wave of crime suffered by this sector.

Jerí began his statement with a mea culpa about the management he leads. “It is corrected, the errors are made precisely to be able to correct them, which as a government we have had. It is corrected, the errors are made precisely to be able to correct them,” he mentioned.

The president promised to address the problems of the sector as quickly as possible, indicating that “we have to do this job on Saturday at the latest.” Later he was more specific and indicated that that day the security rule will be published in the newspaper El Peruano.

Jerí directly linked the wave of violence to the instability on the borders, allowing the illegal entry of explosive material or weapons. “Let’s realize that the issue of insecurity has different causes. And one of the reasons, when speaking what I am mentioning, is that by having the borders as drains for so long, elements, weapons, ammunition, military supplies from other countries or other suppliers have entered,” he said.

PREVIOUS NOTE

The meeting point was the headquarters of the Santa Catalina transportation company, where the president arrived protected by a strong security contingent and accompanied by a high-level delegation.

Among the attendees, the presence of the Minister of the Interior, Vicente Tiburcio, stands out, whose participation is key because the demands of the transporters mainly include greater security guarantees in the face of recent threats of extortion and crime.

It is expected that, at the end of the meeting, President Jerí or Minister Tiburcio will provide statements to the press about the commitments made by the Executive to guarantee normal service in the coming days.
